The two types of herpes are oral (HSV-1) and genital (HSV-2). The oral herpes symptoms may include a fever, a sore throat, swollen glands, and fever blisters which another name for cold sores. The characteristic genital herpes symptom are fluid-filled blisters that become painful sores. A crust will cover these sores as they heal which may take as long as a couple of weeks.

Most of the people who have herpes don't know it for a fact. Let's assume everyone did their part to do their own health check and stop the spread of the virus by taking a herpes test. Those who have it can get treatment and the disease may be controlled.

No one is immune from herpes, even children and the elderly can suffer from it. A child might be crying right now because of the many cold sores in their mouth – and those might not be canker sores – it could be herpes.

Having a genital sore does not mean that the person surely has herpes. It could possibly be a genital ulcer that was caused by other health concerns. A person cannot jump into the conclusion that they have herpes because they have a genital sore. To check for HSV, one cannot rely on just the presence or the lack of symptoms. Take a herpes test.
